A collage (From the French: à coller, to glue, French pronunciation: [kɔ.laːʒ]) is a work of formal art, primarily in the visual arts, made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.
A collage may sometimes include newspaper clippings, ribbons, bits of colored or hand-made papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas. The origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique made a dramatic reappearance in the early 20th century as an art form of novelty.

ARTIST GARDEN COOPERATIVE BOOTH 156 AGC offers a variety of workshops within a peaceful and enchanting garden setting where learners, both young and old, can draw inspiration. Enjoy and get inspired as artists demonstrate a wide range of special techniques at the Festival. On Friday see Francoise Cockburn (Photo Transfer: Mosaics) 9:30am to 12:30pm; Gabrielle Lasporte (Modern Batik) 12:00noon to 2:00pm; Janna Walters (Oil Stick Painting) 1:30pm to 3:30pm; Karen Chisvin (Paper & Fibre Art Collage and Contemporary Quilts) 3:00pm to 6:00pm; and Maggie Doswell (Experimental Mixed Media) 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Maggie and Karen are back on Saturday with diverse approaches to Encaustic and Resin Dyeing from 10:00am to 1:00pm and Jerry Silverberg shares Stencil & Relief Printing techniques from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. It’s all happening at booth #156.
